The Third Force: Latheefa, Kadir Jasin isn’t just being investigated for insulting his milkman or the neighbourhood chicken rice seller, but the Yang di-Pertuan Agong, the head of our country. The veteran newsman published a fake Microsoft Exel spreadsheet that incorrectly estimated the ruler’s expenses. The spreadsheet, which spread like wildfire via WhatsApp and We Chat, infuriated Pakatan friendly netizens who began accusing our rulers of abusing taxpayer-money.
You call that freedom of speech?
What sort of a lawyer are you? Was the Sedition Act 1948 not gazetted to prohibit discourse that could “bring into hatred or contempt or excite disaffection against” government? Was it not designed to prevent citizens from attacking one another in ways that would engender “feelings of ill-will and hostility between the different races?” Is the Agong not the head of Islam, and is he not someone the Malays revere with eminency?
Pakatan Harapan pledged to uphold the rule of law. It is therefore the duty of the coalition to fulfil that pledge by holding Jasin accountable for his actions. What he did is threatening to trigger unrest as more and more non-Malays are taking to the social media with seditious rants against the Constitutional Monarch. Is that not going to infuriate the Malays and trigger animosity between the races?

SHAH ALAM: Polis perlu menghentikan sebarang siasatan ke atas Ketua Unit Media Majlis Penasihat Kerajaan, Datuk A Kadir Jasin berhubung tulisannya berkaitan dakwaan perbelanjaan Yang di-Pertuan Agong.
Peguam PKR, Latheefa Koya berkata, tindakan menghalang rakyat bersuara itu tidak lagi diamalkan oleh kerajaan Pakatan Harapan.
“Ketua Polis Negara (Tan Sri Mohamad Fuzi Harun) perlu sedar Malaysia tidak lagi di bawah pemerintahan BN yang menganiaya rakyat kerana bersuara.
“Sesiapa saja yang terjejas daripada artikel Kadir perlu memberi respons dengan bertamadun bukannya lapor polis,” katanya dalam satu kenyataan, hari ini.
Dalam pada itu, Latheefa berkata, pihak yang terjejas boleh juga memfailkan saman fitnah terhadap Kadir
Hari ini, Fuzi mengesahkan tiga laporan polis dibuat terhadap Kadir berhubung tulisan berkenaan RM256.9 juta dibelanjakan untuk Yang di-Pertuan Agong dalam tempoh 16 bulan.
Fuzi juga memberitahu akan menjalankan siasatan berhubung dakwaan ugutan jenayah, hasutan dan juga mengikut kesalahan melanggar Akta Komunikasi.
Namun menurut Latheefa tindakan itu mengejutkan dan tidak boleh diterima.
Katanya, Mohamad Fuzi perlu bertindak konsisten dengan perubahan agenda yang dibawa oleh kerajaan hari ini.

..after all...ddn't TMM once said that "freedom has it's limits" (there is no absolute freedom)? As peace-loving citizens, let us not go overboard with our comments, suppport or comdemnations. At the end of the day, only peace and harmony will bring prosperity and a better living for all Malaysians.
